Wrestling Shoe Size Chart: How to Convert Your Street Shoe Size

The most common reason wrestlers email us back is sizing. Wrestling shoes don't fit like running shoes — they're meant to be snug, and every brand builds on a different last. Use this guide to convert your street shoe size before you order.

The golden rule

A wrestling shoe should fit like a sock with a sole: no heel slip, toes just brushing the end, zero dead space over the arch. If you can slide a finger behind your heel, the shoe is too big.

ASICS sizing

ASICS runs close to true to size but narrow through the midfoot. Normal-width feet: order your street size. Wide feet: go up a half size or choose the Aggressor, which has the roomiest forefoot in the line. The youth Matflex last runs small — go up half a size.

Nike sizing

Nike wrestling shoes run about a half size long and narrow. Normal-width feet: order a half size down from your street shoe. Wide feet: order true to size. The Inflict and Freek are the narrowest models; the Takedown 4 is the roomiest.

Adidas sizing

Adidas runs true to size with the widest toe box of the four brands. Wide-footed wrestlers who can't get comfortable in ASICS or Nike almost always fit a Combat Speed. Between sizes, go down for competition and stay true for training.

RUDIS sizing

The Colossus fits true to size with a genuinely wide toe box and a taller instep. If ASICS crushes your forefoot, order your street size in RUDIS and it will usually fit straight away.

Measure your foot the right way

Stand on a sheet of paper in the evening (feet swell during the day), trace your foot, and measure heel to longest toe in centimeters. Email us that number plus your street shoe size and brand, and we'll tell you exactly which size to order in the model you want — before you pay anything.

Youth sizing

Don't size up to 'grow into'. A loose shoe rolls ankles and ruins technique. Buy the right size now and replace next season — a budget model like the Nike Takedown 4 or ASICS Matflex makes that affordable.

Frequently asked questions

Should I size up or down in wrestling shoes?

It depends on the brand. Nike runs long — go a half size down. ASICS, Adidas and RUDIS are close to true to size, but ASICS is narrow so wide feet should go up half a size.

How tight should wrestling shoes be?

Snug like a compression sock: no heel slip, toes just brushing the end, no dead space over the arch. They should never pinch or numb your toes.

What if I order the wrong size?

Email us before ordering with your foot length in centimeters and street shoe size — we confirm the right size for the exact model you want, so you get it right the first time.
